German marriage history is a wonderful way to celebrate the special cultures of Europe and their traditions surrounding love and marriage. Many of these norms have a certain significance and symbolism attached to them, whether it is for chance, happiness or to maintain the terrible ghosts at sea. Some of these traditions perhaps appear unusual or ridiculous to us nowadays but they are deeply rooted in lifestyle and have been passed down over the years for centuries

For instance, in France after the proper ceremonies and the group, it is classic to gather outside the honeymooners’ windowpane to bang pots and pans with them – this is known as “la charivari”. This is to wish them fine fortune and open them from any monetary concerns they may possess. It is also done to convince them of the joy and excitement that their marriage day brought them, as well as to provide them more fine fortune in their potential along.

Another European wedding tradition is the” Krevati”. This involves friends and family members placing money on the woman’s pillow for ovulation, healthiness and prosperity. They generally leave a little more than that and if they are very abundant, they may even present them with a apartment or a mansion!

Caramelized pistachios are also a German wedding traditions. They are given to all friends who attend a marriage and indicate fate, wellness, believe and achievement. They are usually pinned to the honeymooners outfits by their guests, much like the wedding jewels.
